Septic Tank Vastu (It’s Correct Location & Ill-Effects of Incorrectly Located One)

January 22, 2016 by Vastu Shastra Guru 10 Comments

Septic tank vastu is crucial and here’s why:

A septic tank is the area of the house where all the waste (whether human or from kitchen etc.) gets collected before it’s flushed out of the house.

This implicitly means that a septic tank holds negativity in it for slight (or even prolonged) periods of time.

Furthermore, if the tank is located incorrectly, then this negativity will – and it will definitely – interfere with positivity of the house making its residents suffer a lot.

Here’s a direction-wise list of ill-effects that a wrongly located septic tank may cause

Ill-effects of Septic Tank (When Located in Wrong Directions)

S. No. Direction Effect
1 North Monetary loss
2 North-East (NE) Business Loss
3 East Fame Loss
4 South-East (SE) Wealth loss
5 South Loss of Wife
6 South-West (SW) Loss of Life
7 West Mental Peace is Lost

Hence, the BEST THING that you can do (in case of incorrectly located septic tank) is to close the wrong one and make a new one at its correct vastu location.

Remember that while closing the wrongly located tank you need to do pooja of Hanuman Ji and then only close the tank.

Hanuman Ji’s Pooja should be done by the Brahmin of the house under guidance of an expert vastu consultant.

Never ever try to close the tank yourself.

While we’ve already talked about the ill-effects of incorrectly located septic tank, it’s now time that we discuss about its appropriate location as per vastu shastra; the next section of the article is dedicated solely for that, so, just read on!

Septic Tank Vastu Tips

Septic Tank Vastu – What’s the Correct Location?

In the previous section you’ve learned what all could possibly go wrong when you’ve got a vastu non-compliant septic tank.

Here, in this section, you’ll learn the correct location of septic tank as per vastu shastra.

Also, you’d find septic tank vastu tips towards the end of the article!

Now, let’s begin with correct vastu location of a septic tank in a house.

For ease of understanding, I’ve created an image (that you see below).

This image reveals to you, the best location for a septic tank as per vastu shastra.

Do have a very good look at it!

Septic Tank Vastu Shastra Location
Correct Location of Septic Tank As Per Vastu Shastra

Here’s the explanation of the image:

There’re 3 green colored “right marks” in the image, that’s the location where you’d want the septic tank of your house to be located as per vastu shastra.

Amongst the 3 “right marks”, the best location is towards the West side of the house.

While it’s said not to locate the septic tank in SE (2 orange colored “right marks”) of the house, some vastu consultants would allow that while others wouldn’t agree to this arrangement.

Hence the best you can do is to locate the septic tank as per the “all agreed” location of NW of the house.

It doesn’t matter whether your house is North facing or East, South or West, the septic tank must be in NW of the house.

Now, when you know the correct vastu location of a septic tank, here’re septic tank vastu tips (in do’s and don’ts format).

Septic Tank Vastu – What to Follow (5 Tips)

  1. The best location of a septic tank is in the NW of the house (see image).
  2. Make sure that the tank in not above the plinth level.
  3. Keep the tank 1-2 feet away from the compound wall.
  4. Orient the tank such that the length lies in East-West axis and its breadth in North-South axis.
  5. Orient the tank such that the water part from it leaves from East side and excretion (or solid) waste leaves from West.

Septic Tank Vastu – What to Avoid (4 Tips)

  1. Avoid septic tank in NE.
  2. Never ever locate a septic tank in SW.
  3. The tank should never touch the compound wall or plinth.
  4. The outlet from the tank must never be from South side.

Apart from above septic tank vastu tips, here’re some more vastu instructions for pipelines that lead to septic tank.

Pipelines Vastu – What to Follow

  1. Pipelines from bathroom and kitchen should have outlets from North or East.
  2. Pipelines from toilets should be from West or NW.
  3. Replace or repair any broken pipelines.

Pipelines Vastu – What to Avoid

  1. No pipelines (from wherever) should have outlet from South (even by mistake). If there’re then make sure to turn them towards North or East or NW or West.
  2. Drainage pipes from upper floors should never be from SW.

And that’s all there is to when it comes to septic tank vastu.

West Facing House Vastu

November 6, 2015 by Vastu Shastra Guru 20 Comments

West facing houses are – or I should say, have somehow become – third choice for people; first and second choices being North and East oriented houses respectively.

More on North and East oriented home vastu @ North Face Home Vastu & East Face Home Vastu

The reason for a West facing home to become third choice for many people is the belief – or rather misbelief – that all West oriented houses are bad as per vastu.

I said “misbelief” because that’s not exactly true; in fact a West facing home can be as auspicious as a North or East oriented one – if and only if – it follows very certain vastu rules.

Here, I assume that you’re well aware of the principles of vastu shastra; somehow, if you aren’t, then please read the article @ Vastu Shastra for a very clear understanding of its concepts.

West Facing House Vastu

West Facing House – What Vastu Shastra Says About It

You might have heard from many people – I can call them ill-informed people – that living in a South direction property is bad or living in a West facing one is always going to invite troubles in life etc. but that’s not the case.

Here, I must tell you that vastu shastra never claims that North is a good direction to orient a home and West is bad.

In fact, as per vastu shastra, all the directions are equally good to orient a house.

However, the thing that makes or breaks vastu for a house is the location of the entrance or main door of the house.

That’s the reason why for each and every direction – be it North, East, South or West – vastu shastra has got rules and principles for locating the entrance of the house.

Now, since we’re dealing with West facing houses, let’s have a look at vastu for West facing house.

West Facing House Vastu – Rules, Tips and Guidelines

As we’ve said earlier, it’s the entrance of the house that has got the highest importance in vastu shastra and West facing home is not an exception.

Now, as per vastu for West oriented house, the main door of the home can be located in any of the four padas i.e. 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th on the West side.

In order to understand the above statement more visually, I’ve made an image (that you can see below); have a good look at it.

West Facing House Vastu Entrance Location

From the image above, I’m sure, you can understand that I’ve divided the West side of the house i.e. the length from the North-West (NW) corner to the South-West (SW) corner in 9 equal parts; each part is called as pada (or step) in vastu shastra. The NW pada is 1st and the SW pada is 9th.

Also, you can see that padas 1 and 2 are in yellow color; 3, 4, 5 and 6 are in green color and padas 7, 8 and 9 are in red color.

Here’s what this all means:

  1. Padas 3, 4, 5 and 6 are the ones that are best suited to locate the entrance of a West facing house.
  2. Padas 1 and 2 can be used if the space after utilizing padas 3, 4, 5 and 6 seems less (however, this seldom happens).
  3. The entrance of a West facing house can also be located in padas 1 and 2 (only if there’s no option to use 3, 4, 5 and 6 padas); this entrance may not give very good results but will not give bad results either.
  4. Padas 7, 8 and 9 are the ones that are prohibited i.e. you should never ever – in any case – locate the entrance of your home in this part of West side.

Here, I must also tell you that all other rules of vastu shastra remain the same for West facing houses too!

Below, I’ve compiled a list of those rules (in do’s and don’ts format) for West facing house; just have a look at them!

West Facing House Vastu – What To Avoid (5 Tips)

  1. Avoid entrance in 7th, 8th and 9th pada of West side.
  2. Never locate a bore-well or water sump in SW of the house.
  3. Never buy a plot or flat having extension in South or SW.
  4. Avoid a plot that’s higher in North than South.
  5. Never have a kitchen in SW of the house.

West Facing House Vastu – What To Follow (9 Tips)

  1. Locate the entrance in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th pada in West.
  2. You can also use 1st and 2nd padas if you want.
  3. The walls in South and West must be thicker and higher than East and North.
  4. Place the kitchen in SE or NW of the house; SE is better.
  5. Master bedroom in SW is the best; if the house has multiple floors then locate the master bedroom at the highest floor.
  6. Living room and Pooja room in NE of the house is very auspicious.
  7. Kid’s room can be in South, West or North-West.
  8. A guest bedroom can be placed in North-West.
  9. A plot that slopes from South to North is considered auspicious.

Well, that’s all there is to when it comes to West facing houses. I believe that – now – you’re able to understand that not all West facing houses are bad and are in a – very good – position to filter out bad West facing houses from some really good ones.

Now, since you’ve understood West facing house vastu, I’d suggest you to understand vastu for kitchen, living room, bedroom, toilets and Pooja room too!

East Facing House Vastu

September 11, 2015 by Vastu Shastra Guru 19 Comments

East facing houses are the second most preferred homes (first one being north facing ones) by a lot of people.

Having said that, here’s another fact that most people “tend to believe” that all East facing homes are equal when it comes to vastu shastra, but that’s truly not the case.

Here, I must tell you that, as per vastu shastra, East facing houses can range from being very auspicious to very inauspicious ones.

In other – and simpler – words, it’s not the orientation of the house that makes it auspicious or inauspicious; it’s the placement of all the rooms, parts and the entrance of the home that matters; however, a “huge importance” is given to the entrance of the house!

Here, I assume that you’re aware of vastu shastra; if you aren’t, then please head right to the article @ Vastu Shastra – What Is It? And start learning from there. Furthermore, if you’re just beginning to understand vastu shastra and want to apply it in your complete home then my article @ Vastu for Home – Step By Step is the best place you can begin at!

East Facing Houses – What Vastu Says About Them

As I’ve said earlier, auspiciousness (or the lack of it) of a home doesn’t depends upon the direction and hence thinking that all East oriented houses are good and South ones aren’t, is just a “big, bold misconception”.

Furthermore, as with everything else in vastu shastra, there’re rules, guidelines and principles that you need to – and must – follow when it comes to doing vastu for East facing house.

Now, since the placement of the main door is of utmost importance, I’ve dedicated the entire next section of the article to just that, so, read on.

East Facing House Vastu – Main Door/Entrance Placement

East is considered to be a good direction in vastu shastra, however, this in no way means, that one can locate the entrance of a house at any place in East side.

You must locate the entrance at only “allowed” places and never locate in the “prohibited” zones; we’ve discussed this further but first, take a real good look at the image below.

East Facing House Vastu Main Door Placement

As evident from the image above, the East part (length from North-East to South-East) is divided in 9 equal parts.

Each part is called as “pada” or step in vastu shastra.

I’m sure that you’d have noticed that only “pada” numbered 5 is in green color and the pada’s above it i.e. pada number 1, 2 are in orange color; 3, 4, 6 and 7 are in yellow color whereas the remaining padas 8 and 9 are in red color.

Here’s what all this means

  1. The 5th pada (green one) is the most auspicious one to locate a main door for East facing home. It’s the location of Sun (the God of fame) and blesses the residents with a lot of name, fame and respect in the society.
  2. The pada’s 3 and 4 are the ones that you can use (for entrance/main door) if pada 5 alone is small. But make sure to include pada 5 along with padas 4 or 3.
  3. Padas 1 and 2 are the prohibited ones; however, if you happen to locate the entrance of your home here then there’s nothing to fret about as it won’t bring any harm; however, it may not give any benefits at the same time too. Also, if you’re planning to use pada 1 for main door, then make sure to leave at least 6 inches (1/2 feet) of space from NE wall; i.e the main door shouldn’t touch NE corner.
  4. The pada’s 6 and 7 are the ones that can be used if there’s no option to place the main door towards padas 4, 3, 2 or 1. However, it’s always better to include pada 5 in this arrangement.
  5. Padas 8 and 9 are the “prohibited” ones and must never be used to locate the entrance of a house and that’s because it’s the place from where illness enters the home. If you happen to  have an entrance from this part of the home then please read the article @ South-East vastu dosh and remedies

Having understood vastu rules and guidelines for east facing house entrance, you’re now ready to know what to do and avoid in an east facing home, so just read on.

East Facing House Vastu – 9 Don’ts

  1. No toilets in NE corner.
  2. No bedroom in NE corner.
  3. No septic tank in NE corner; in fact this image will tell you the best location to make a septic tank.  Update: More on Septic tank Vastu @ Septic Tank Vastu
  4. A staircase in North-East of a house is a strict no.
  5. Avoid having a kitchen in NE corner; if there’s one then this article will help you.
  6. Avoid a plot that slopes from North to South.
  7. Avoid big trees in North and East of a house.
  8. Avoid having clutter, dirt, dustbins etc. in North and NE; it’s better to avoid it everywhere.
  9. No cut in NE corner; if there’s one then read our article @ North-East vastu dosh & remedies.

East Facing House Vastu – 10 Do’s

  1. Place the main door in 5th pada; this’ll give name and fame.
  2. You can place entrance in padas 4th to 1st if pada 5 alone is small.
  3. Make walls in North and East slightly shorter and thinner than South and West.
  4. Make sure that kitchen is in SE or NW.
  5. Face East (in SE kitchen) and West (in NW kitchen) while cooking.
  6. Pooja room in NE is very auspicious. More info @ Pooja Room Vastu Tips
  7. A living room in NE is also good. More about it @ Living Room Vastu Tips
  8. You can have a guest bedroom in NW.
  9. A plot that slopes from South to North is considered good.
  10. SW master bedroom is the best.

8 Vastu Tips That’ll Help End Family Feuds

August 14, 2015 by Vastu Shastra Guru Leave a Comment

Quarrels and tensions amongst family members is not a good sight but unfortunately it’s not very uncommon too.

I am sure that you’ve seen (or heard) many families where some or all of the family members quarrel with each other; furthermore, I am also sure that you’ve really felt bad or pity for them.

Now, these quarrels may happen due to workload, tight schedules, lack of finances and a really long list of countless reasons.

But here we’re not concerned about the reasons, we’re concerned about the remedies and that’s where we can take help of Vastu Shastra.

8 Vastu Tips That’ll Help End Family Feuds

In vastu shastra, there are some remedies that one can apply to reduce and/or possibly eliminate such types of quarrels and disharmony amongst the family members; below is a list of 8 such vastu tips or remedies (call it whatever you want) that’ll instill harmony, love, trust, feeling of togetherness and oneness between members of a family.

8 Vastu Tips to Finish Family Feud

  1. If the relations, in a home, amongst family member are tensed – most of the times – then place a white sandal wood statue (any statue will do, but make sure it’s not depicting negative emotions like weeping girl, war, crime etc.) in such a way that everybody can see it multiple times while roaming around in the house. This will reduce the tension, create harmony and will increase mutual trust amongst family members.
  2. If there’re disputes amongst male members within the family then a simple remedy is to keep a small branch of Kadamba tree (Neolamarckia cadamba) in a home. This’ll help instill peace in home.
  3. If there’s tension and disputes amongst female members of the family then they should make sure not to wear red colored clothes all at the same time or at the same occasion.
  4. If there are quarrels and disturbances due to one female member in a home then gift her Moon Stone Silver ring on Shukla Paksha Monday; just make sure that she wears it in the ring finger of right hand.
  5. Try to eat meals with the family; this creates a sense of togetherness and unity. Also, if possible, then try to eat in the kitchen of your home (if the kitchen is big enough) this’ll reduce the ill effects of Rahu.
  6. If for no reason there is tension and mutual discomfort amongst family members, then no one from the family should shave and have haircuts on Thursday.
  7. Each month calculate the number of guests that have visited the home, to that number add the number of family member; for example if 5 guests visited your home and there are 4 family members then make 9 sweet rotis and offer it to the animals in your area. This’ll shun away illness, evil eye, wasteful expenses and quarrels.
  8. Just sprinkle holy Ganga water in your entire home on each Poormina (Full Moon Day)

Do apply them or suggest them to anyone you know who has issues with family members.

They’ll thank you many times.

North Facing House Vastu

April 16, 2015 by Vastu Shastra Guru 28 Comments

If, given a chance, to select from North, South, East or West facing house, most people will tend to – or will – choose the North facing one and that’s just based on a “partly true” fact that North facing houses are very auspicious.

I say “partly true” because, even a North facing house can be very inauspicious – if and only if – it’s not as per the rules and regulations of vastu shastra.

In other words, facing of a house is not a guarantee of it being auspicious, there’s something more to it than facing and that’s the placement of main door/entrance and remaining rooms of a home.

Note: I assume that you are well aware of vastu shastra; if, by any chance you aren’t, then head right here to understand what vastu shastra is. If you’re interested in applying vastu shastra principles to your home then this post is definitely the first step in the process.

North Facing House – What Vastu Shastra Says About It

I must tell you that as per vastu shastra, none of the direction is considered bad.

In fact, vastu shastra never says that one direction is good and another one is bad.

Also, as per same vastu shastra, it’s the placement of main door/entrance and other rooms of a home that makes it auspicious or inauspicious; however, a huge importance given to the main door.

Having said that, things are a bit different with North facing houses; since North direction, in vastu shastra, is believed to be auspicious, the placement of door at any location in North side is considered good.

However, even for North facing houses, there are vastu rules and guidelines that – must be – followed which we’ve discussed below.

So, let’s begin the ride.

North Facing House Vastu – The Placement of Main Door/Entrance

As said earlier, North direction is considered very auspicious in vastu shastra; hence as per north facing house vastu, you can place main door at any location in North side and it’s not going to harm you at least.

However, there are 9 padas or steps in North side of a house all having different auspiciousness; we’ve discussed this below.

Here, I must also tell you that the most auspicious pada (step) of North side, for accumulating wealth and riches, is the 5th one; now, in order to understand pada or step, all you need to do is it to have a good look at the image below.

North Facing House Vastu Padas

In the image above you can see that the North part (the length from North-East to North-West) is divided in 9 equal parts.

Each part is called as “pada” or step in vastu shastra.

Also, you – must have – noticed that only “pada” numbered 5 is in green color and the pada’s to the right i.e. pada number 1, 2, 3 and 4 are in blue color whereas the remaining pada’s, from 6 to 9 are in orange color.

Here’s what all this means

  1. The 5th pada (green one) is the best and the most auspicious for entrance or main door of a north facing home. It’s the location of Kuber (the God of wealth) and attracts money. If you want to attract a lot of wealth into your life the read our article @ 21 Vastu Tips for Wealth.
  2. The pada’s 1, 2, 3 and 4 are the ones that you can use (for entrance/main door) if pada 5 alone is small. But make sure to include pada 5 along with padas 4, 3, 2 or 1. If you’re using space up to pada 1, then make sure that the entrance/main door doesn’t touch the NE corner. Leave at least 6 inches of space from NE wall.
  3. The pada’s 6 to 9 are the ones that can be used if there’s no option to place the main door in any other padas.

Having understood rules and guidelines for north facing house vastu, you’re now ready to know what to do and avoid in a north facing home, so just read on.
