11 KEY Vastu Tips for Toilet & Bathroom

When considering doing vastu for home, you must pay special attention to make toilets and bathrooms in your home as per rules and guidelines of vastu shastra. Toilets and bathrooms are – or tend to become – a major source of negative energy if they are not built as per rules and guidelines of vastu. Hence, in this article, I will reveal to you the best location, internal arrangement of items and the most efficient vastu tips which you can – and must – apply to make vastu compliant toilets and bathrooms in your home.

Here, I assume that you already know about vastu shastra; however, if you don’t know what vastu shastra is then I recommend you to read the article about what vastu shastra is and how it affects your life and become familiar with vastu shastra.

If you are planning to do vastu for your home – which I think you should do – then you MUST READ the article on how you can do vastu for your home so that you have a better plan to achieve a vastu compliant home.

Now, coming back to the topic of this article i.e. vastu for toilets and bathrooms. As per vastu shastra, the toilets and bathrooms in a home must be separate and not attached, but there are over 7 billion people on earth and 70% of earth’s surface is water, hence the space is limited for living and thus attached toilets or attached bathrooms – as some people call them – have found a way into our homes. But this doesn’t mean that if you have attached bathrooms or toilets in your home then you cannot do vastu for them. You can easily do vastu for them also and that’s what you are going to learn here.

But before you take any action further, I want you to go through the next section of this article which tells you the importance of doing vastu for toilets and bathrooms in your home. Also, the next section makes you aware of the common problems and issues associated with vastu non compliant bathrooms and toilets; hence if you are facing similar troubles in your life, you can easily pin point the reason for such troubles and apply suitable remedies to get rid of them.

Attached Bathroom Toilet Vastu Tips

Toilet and Bathroom Vastu – Why so much fuss?

Many troubles and issues are invited by vastu non compliant bathrooms and toilets. Here in this section, I have listed the most common – but in no way painless – troubles and issues which find their way in if the toilet/bathroom of your home doesn’t comply with vastu rules and guidelines. Remember that many people have already faced these problems and there are many others who are still being grinded by them.

Vastu Non-Compliant Bathrooms – List of Problems They Attract

  1. Financial Issues: Weak finances, loss of money by various means.
  2. Health Issues: Mental tension and stress, frequent – lethal and minor – accidents.

Having seen – some – common problems that may arise due to vastu defect in toilet and bathroom, you are now ready to read and understand how you can make the toilet and bathroom in your home a vastu compliant one. All you need to do now is to read the next section of this very same article.

Vastu Compliant Toilets and Bathroom – How To Do It The Correct Way?

This section of the article reveals to you the best vastu tips, location, wall colors, internal arrangement of items and much more in a bathroom while complying with the rules and regulations of vastu shastra.

Making an attached toilet a vastu compliant one is a three step process. In the first step you will learn the best location, as per vastu, where you can make a toilet or bathroom in your home.

Have a look at the image below and you will be able to easily understand the best and the second best locations, as per vastu, within a home where you can make toilet or bathroom.

Toilet-Bathroom Vastu ShastraTips

Since you have seen the image and understood that the best location for a toilet or bathroom is the North-West part of the home (not the North-West corner), see carefully that I have left the corners in the image. The second best location for a toilet is the North-East part and not the North-East corner, and the South-West part leaving the South-West corner, you are now ready for the second step in making a vastu compliant toilet.

The second step is to identify the internal arrangements of items such as geyser, bathtub, taps, mirror, commode etc. in an attached bathroom. To make this process simpler, I have created another image which tells you the best possible arrangements of essential items and fittings in a bathroom.

Toilet-Bathroom Internal Vastu ShastraTips -

Since you now have seen – and hopefully – understood the internal arrangement of items for a vastu compliant attached bathroom, you are now ready to learn and understand the best vastu tips for a vastu compliant attached toilet or bathroom.

  • Hi BK,

There’s no remedy for North toilet. You can try keeping sea salt in a bowl in the toilet; this may reduce the ill effect.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • Hi BK,

There’s a bedroom in NE of the house, please don’t use that as master bedroom. Your kids can use that as a bedroom. Now in case of a girl child, she can use it only till the time she is under teen.

Yes, there’s a bathroom in North and now you can’t do anything about it.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • Hi Div G,

You’re welcome. You have to change the location of that bathroom.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • Hi Div G,

I am pointing to North bathroom (not the one next to kitchen as that’s the South bathroom).

Also I am referring to NE bedroom and not the SW (master bedroom).
Please refer to my post @ http://www.vastushastraguru.com/vastu-shastra-directions/ if you need help in identifying directions.

    Thanks,

    Hi Div G,

I can see that there’s a bedroom in NE and a bathroom in North of the house. Both these are vastu defects.

Don’t use the NE bedroom as master bedroom. You can use it as kid’s bedroom (in case of a girl, she must be under teen) or study room.

For bathroom in North, since the construction hasn’t started, I’d suggest you to place the bathroom in NW corner.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Alex,

You can shift the Pooja to East or North side of your home. For NE toilet there’s nothing that can be done.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Alex,

I can see that there’s a toilet right in the NE corner of your home and that’s where the problem is.
For time being, keep sea salt in a bowl in the toilet and change the salt at least once a week.

The best remedy will be to remove the toilet from NE corner and make a pooja room there.

Also, I can see that there’s a pooja room right next to the bathroom in West and that’s also a defect. Try to move the pooja room towards the North side of your home.

    Hi Shashank,

As per what you’ve said, it seems that nothing can be done; hence this vastu defect will remain. As a small remedy you can keep sea salt in bowl in that bathroom. Change the salt at least once a week.

    Hi James O’Donnel,

The kitchen in SE is very auspicious. Face East while cooking. More on this @ http://www.vastushastraguru.com/kitchen-vastu-tips/

For wood burning stove, the first arrangement is better.

Let the tree be as it’s towards the SE side.

A bathroom in SW may ruin your finances. Hence you must apply the remedies for it. More on it @ http://www.vastushastraguru.com/south-west-vastu-dosh-remedies/

    Hi Anu,

Try to keep the kitchen in the SE. The staircase in NW is ok but never have a bathroom under the staircase. Also there must be no bedroom in NE of a home.

Make the master bedroom in SW.

Feel free to ask further questions.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Supradeepthi C.V.P,

The toilet and staircase can be side by side but make sure that the toilet is never under the stairs. You can change that door to West.

    Thanks,

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Saurabh Sen,

Start 1 from NE and 9th will be the SE corner one.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Saurabh Sen,

Keep the WC in the Western side. Also, at which pada in East is the bathroom being located. Make sure that the bathroom is not in the 5th pada as that may seriously ruin your social and financial status.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • Supradeepthi C.V.P

    hello sir,
ours is a small site & we are now going to construct a duplex house.I have attached the ground floor plan.my question is

can bathroom be placed center to the south ?
steps and bathroom can be side by side?
can the door of toilet face dinning room?
all other rooms and doors were according to the vastu?

please give me some suggestion in this regard.

    • VastuShastraAdmin

      Hi Supradeepthi C. V.P

You can make the bathroom in South but make sure that it’s not in SE or SW corner.

As per vastu shastra, the door of the toilet must not face the dining area. If nothing can be done, then at least place a curtain to partition dining area from toilet.

      Thanks,
      Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Arun Bisoyi,

Since you have a plot and not a flat, I have to ask you about the slope of plot; which direction is the plot sloping? I am asking this because the slope of plot plays very important role in vastu shastra.

Also, I’ll suggest you to get an expert vastu consultant to visit your place to check the slope, type of soil and the surrounding areas of your plot. All these things play very crucial role in vastu shastra.

Now, to your question, as per vastu shastra, the Brahmasthan must be the lightest part of a house and a foundation there may not be a good idea.

Feel free to ask any more questions.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Srinivas,

There’s a toilet in NW corner, try to use it as a bathroom. Place sea salt in a bowl in that toilet and change the salt once a week at-least.
    Rest all looks ok.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

Use that toilet as a bathroom and place sea salt in a bowl in the toilet. Make sure to change the sea salt once a week.

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Srinivas,

Please mark North direction in the plan.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Rambabu Bheemala,

Place the salt in each bathroom. You can keep it wherever possible in the bathroom; this may reduce the ill effect.
You need to change the salt once every week at least. Salt in known as an absorber of negative energy.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

The NE corner is ruled by Jupiter and VP’s head is also located at this corner. Hence there must be no toilet in this corner.

However, what has been explained here is that the toilets can be away from NE corner from 3/9 to 4/9 and not in 1/9 or 2/9 due to the same reasons.

Also placing them in 3/9 or 4/9 makes it away from Kuber in North (5/9) and Sun in East (5/9) and they won’t be offended. Furthermore, at 3/9 to 4/9 the Vp’s head isn’t burdened with bathroom as it’s at 2/9 in North and same in East.

  • VastuShastraAdmin

That’s NE part and not NE corner. “The second best location for a toilet is the North-East part and not the North-East corner”

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Have replied

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Rambabu,
The toilets in exact North are not good. They are at the place of Kuber and will hurt you financially.

Place sea salt in a bowl in the toilets and change the salt regularly.

You can get sea salt via below link:

    Hi Nee Kay,
    You’re welcome.

Square is best, but if rectangle then the ratio of length:breadth must be max 1:2.

For kitchen, you can do that.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Nee Kay,
I suggest you to go through
    http://www.vastushastraguru.com/vastu-for-home/
link as it will help you to understand vastu for complete home.

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Nee Kay,

As per vastu shastra, there must be nothing except storage area under the staircase.
Hence it’s better if you can modify the plan such that the toilet isn’t under the stairs.

Also for staircase in North, you can place 2 metal turtles under the lowest step of staircase. This will mean that the shell of the turtle bears the weight of staircase.

You can get copper turtles from amazon using the link below:
    http://amzn.to/14BDNzd

    Thanks,
    Admin

  • Nee kay

    Sir,
Please advise on this plan, if this is better than the previous one. first picture with garage is on the first floor with porch/entrance facing North.

    Thank You,
    Nee

    • VastuShastraAdmin

      Hi Nee Kay,
      The other plan is better.

      Thanks,
      Admin

  • Nee kay

    Dear Sir,
Thank you for your reply. There is no kitchen on the second floor. There may be nothing above the kitchen, family room and master bedroom.

I was worried about the stairs at the entrance and kids bathroom underneath the stair

    Thanks, Nee.

    • VastuShastraAdmin

      Hi Nee,

Is that bathroom exactly under the staircase? From the plan it seems to be a bit off and not exactly under the stairs.

      Thanks,
      Admin

  • Nee kay

    Hello Sir,
    Happy New Year!
In the attached pic, porch or front door is facing North.
Please advise if it is Vasthu compliant.

    Thanks,
    Nee

    • VastuShastraAdmin

      Hi Nee,
The plan look good to me.

However, is there a kitchen on the 2nd floor in the SE corner (the text is a bit unclear)? If yes, and you’re planning to let or rent out 2nd floor then ok, but if you’re not planning to let out the second floor then the kitchen must not be there; because as per vastu shasra, the kitchen must be on the ground floor only.

      Thanks,
      Admin

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Pavan,
A remedy for an extension is to put a silver (1mm dia) or copper (6.25 mm dia) solid wire under the ground such that the wire cuts the extended portion of the home.

    Thanks

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Pavan,
Don’t use the North toilet; you can use that bathroom. Staircase in South is ok.

The SE extension doesn’t looks much in the layout. Are you facing any difficulties?

    Thanks

  • VastuShastraAdmin

    Hi Vatchala,

As per vastu shastra, a toilet in North-East is not recommended. Yes a bathroom can be located near the North-East.

Also, a kitchen in South West is not at all acceptable. Please read our post http://www.vastushastraguru.com/south-west-vastu-dosh-remedies/ to know South-West kitchen remedy.

    Dear Sir,

I need your advice on the new house, which I have recently booked and
is under construction at the moment.

The house is basically an independent twin bungalow with construction
on ground floor and the first floor.

In the First floor, Master bedroom has an attached bathroom.

And the flooring level of bathroom is 6 inch more than the Room level.
Bathroom is one step up than Room level. But we can change to make the bathroom and Room at same level.

So as per vastu is it Ok to have Bathroom one step up than Room flooring level or bathroom and Room should have the same flooring level?

    Thank you very much.

    • VastuShastraAdmin

      Namaste Jignesh Ji,

It’s recommended as per vastu to have bathroom level more than normal level.

      Thanks

Please find the plans (ground floor and first floor) of my house attached.
Basically, the house is under construction in a twin bungalow scheme.
The hatched area is the adjacent house with a common wall to my house.
My query is regarding the toilet attached to the master bedroom, whether it is in the north east corner. If yes, then is there any way to avoid the problem ?
The house is under construction and it is possible to modify the plan on the first floor.
If you find any other major vaastu problem, please let me know.
        Thank you very much.

        • VastuShastraAdmin

          Namaste Jignesh Ji,

I have checked the layout plans of your home.

As far as my understanding goes, the bathroom in the master bedroom (the largest bedroom on the first floor) is ok as it’s away from the NE corner.

I can also see that the master bedroom in your home is in South-East rather than South-West.

Furthermore, I can see that there is a bathroom in the North-West corner, which is, as per vastu, not good (leave the corners).

          Hope I answered your query.

          Thanks.
